Venue and Weather
Location is crucial for photoshoots especially your engagement photoshoot because that will set the benchmark for you and your partner’s love story. Make sure to look for a venue that vibes with you and your partner’s personalities and styles. If you love nature then an open field, an old farm, or a garden would be great.
For those who love the mod aesthetic, perhaps opt for something like an old monument, town old, or maybe even something random like a street; the choice is yours. As for the weather, watch out for rainy days. Set your shoot day on a day when you are expecting clear skies with just the right amount of sunlight for that perfect photoshoot lighting.
What to Wear
The question that literally leaves everyone confused: to pick out an outfit for your engagement photoshoot is a task, to say the least. Your outfit doesn’t necessarily have to be extravagant. You must make sure that whatever you wear looks good on you. Preferably opt for soft muted colors like muted neutrals or blush tones or stick to classic white. Flashy colors and vivid prints are too overwhelming and often take the attention away from the couple being photographed. Also, always have a backup outfit ready. Also, make sure to get dressed up. Carry Extra Shoes and Water
Heels are uncomfortable. Everyone knows it. Since the engagement photoshoot is a long one, you need to make sure that you carry an extra pair of shoes with you on the day of. There will be a lot of walking around and standing and the last thing you need is to have aching feet and blisters on your feet. Make sure to carry water with yourself as well so you stay hydrated throughout.
Homework and Expectations
It is best if you do your homework from before. Look up Pinterest boards, other sample work and have an idea about what you want your pictures to look like. Discuss them with your photographer so both parties can set a certain level of expectations from one another. That way there will be no surprises and things will run smoother.
The Best Time
The ideal time to shoot is 2 hours before the sun sets mainly because the lighting is spot on. Make sure to reach before time so you can make the most out of your time.
